AR Try-On vs. In-Person Testing: What Did the Brainwaves Tell Us?

Introduction

We combined EEG tests with user interviews to understand how people feel when trying on lipstick through AR versus in real life. Here's what we found:

Project details

  • Users who preferred the online AR experience showed more negative emotions during the physical trial, with alpha waves concentrated in the right frontal lobe.
  • On the other hand, users who preferred the physical try-on showed more positive emotions, with theta waves focused in the left frontal lobe.
  • Result

    These brainwave patterns and emotional responses help explain why people make different preference decisions.
